This publication presents an automated screening approach to accelerate the development of sorbent materials for direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide. Against the backdrop of rising atmospheric CO₂ concentrations and the limited capacity of natural carbon sinks, the study addresses the urgent need for scalable carbon dioxide removal technologies.

The authors demonstrate how a sample exchanger enables high‑throughput, reproducible testing of DAC sorbents under relevant conditions. By significantly increasing experimental efficiency and data comparability, the approach supports faster identification and optimization of promising materials—contributing to the advancement of effective CO₂ capture solutions and their potential use within a circular carbon economy.
